Dropper pipettes, bitter liqueur, dark chocolate balls.
In 1912, pharmacist Metello Morganti formulated a digestive liqueur with tonic and invigorating properties in Terni, marketed under the name Viparo. 111 years later, I invited the city to rediscover the drink through the method by which it was originally administered: the pharmaceutical dropper.
Vis pario is a relational installation created in collaboration with Amaro Viparo and a historic chocolate shop that regularly serves it. Customers were offered a free pipette filled with Viparo, leaving them the choice of taking the bitter liqueur directly or inside a dark chocolate ball. Once emptied, the pipette revealed one of 50 phrases and words I wrote, designed to explore the hidden details and emotions of the experience of drinking a bitter liqueur, which is usually experienced unconsciously.
The phrases, deliberately open-ended and introspective, stimulate questioning and dialogue. At the end of the experience, consumers can take the dropper home with them.
